Australian-born, international supermodel Miranda Kerr brought together more than 250 fans for a yoga class as part of Earth Hour’s ongoing I Will If You Will campaign.
The yoga class led by Kerr was captured on video to inspire people to take part and grow the campaign in 2013, with the upcoming Earth Hour being held on March 23, at 8:30PM.
As a global ambassador for the world’s largest campaign for the planet, Kerr hosted the class in Sydney for her fans who committed to go beyond the hour by sharing their own I Will If You Will challenges with the world.
The model, entrepreneur and eco-advocate is known for her commitment to the planet, reducing her footprint by offsetting all of her travel, and adopting simple practices like recycling and switching to energy efficient lighting.
“This year I decided to do two I Will If You Will challenges for Earth Hour - as well as doing the yoga class for my fans, I also challenged the KORA Organics team to offset the carbon emissions from their flights, and I have done the same,” said Kerr.
“I think it's a really fun campaign that shows everyone can change the world they live in. Whether it be a big or a small change - it all counts.”
The I Will If You Will campaign in collaboration with YouTube was launched in February this year, as a challenge to individuals, businesses and governments to go beyond the hour and take an ongoing positive action for the environment.
In 2012, I Will If You Will engaged millions of Earth Hour participants, with more than 200,000 people accepting challenges like recycling, giving up plastic, taking action to protect the Amazon, using more public transport and supporting reforestation.
Earth Hour Global CEO Andy Ridley says it’s easy for people to create their own challenge, and to inspire their friends, family and fans to protect the planet.
“Miranda’s involvement in the campaign inspired thousands to take part this year. We're can’t wait to see how Miranda and her family challenge each other and their fans for Earth Hour 2013,” he says.
The I Will If You Will campaign has so far been supported by supermodel Miranda Kerr, actress Isabel Lucas, TV stars Giuliana and Bill Rancic, former MTV Asia VJ Nadya Hutagalung, Greenpeace International Executive Director Kumi Naidoo, and a host of other individuals, organisations, companies and governments.
Earth Hour 2013 will take place at 8.30pm – 9.30pm on Saturday 23 March
