Welcome to the Earth Hour global community!

Taking care of the environment has always been important to us at BraveNewCode. That's why we do things like offset our company travel with gold standard carbon credits, and work to raise awareness for environmental issues whenever possible.

We created the WordPress Earth Hour plugin a few years ago show our solidarity with the environmental community in marking the event. Any worthwhile positive change takes concerted efforts by all of us. The Earth Hour plugin symbolizes that belief with a uniform message across many participating WordPress sites leading up to and during the event.

The plugin works by 'shutting off' your website during Earth Hour. During Earth Hour your website will show an Earth Hour logo, and a small customizable message. We even made sure to show the image and message on a black background because, according to researchers at the University of California, black uses less energy to display.

The plugin also shows a small customizable fixed bar on your website leading up to the event, which lets visitors know about your participation, shares how many others have the plugin and are participating, and links to the Earth Hour website.
