Earth Hour is recognising outstanding individuals across our planet that are using their ideas, imagination, inventiveness and entrepreneurial spirit to build a better planet and future for us all.
All over the world, there are passionate and talented people envisioning and inventing scalable solutions to address our planet’s challenges.
Earth Hour Innovators reflects both geographic and discipline diversity. From USA, India, Ecuador to Uganda, these innovators have talents in technology, design, entrepreneurship, engineering, education, and environmentalism.
Our innovators includes an inventor of a radically designed sailboat that cleans oceans; designers of non-polluting, affordable solar powered cookers for developing countries; an environmental activist who reshapes commercial building using principles of green architecture and sustainable upkeep; and an eco-artist who uses waste materials to create a amusement parks for children.
Earth Hour Innovators are daring the world to take action through the ‘I Will If You Will,’ challenge-based platform that encourages people to make a difference in the world by offering them something in return. It aims to inspire individuals, communities, businesses, celebrities and government agencies to create their own challenges that result in a positive chain reaction, galvanizing more to take urgent action to protect the environment.
Kamal Meattle, Indian environmentalist and CEO of Paharpur Business Centre & Software Technology Incubator Park, will be planting one tree for every 50 plastic bottles his staff, clients and people reuse as planters.
Ecuadorian architect, environmental activist and founder of Sustainable Design Studio, Veronica Reed will host a real-time conversation on Twitter where people cans ask questions and make comments about sustainability design if 100 people host Earth Hour events for 10 of their friends.
Earth Hour Innovators will also interact within the Earth Hour community by sharing their ongoing stories on the Earth Hour blog, and being featured in the online.

Scot Frank and Catlin Powers (Nepal/China) are founders of One Earth Designs, and they’ve developed award-winning solar powered cookers, as well as, water quality and heating solutions.
Cesar Harada (Japan/France/UK) is an environmentalist, entrepreneur and the inventor of Protei, a revolutionary shape shifting sailing robot for tackling ocean oil spills, cleaning up plastic debris, and monitoring ocean health.
Ruganzu Bruno Tusingwire (Uganda) is a 29-year old eco-artist who uses waste materials to create a movable amusement park for children living in slums of Kampala.
Veronica Reed (Ecuador) a sustainable and social architect, works on sustainable architecture and design, sustainable community development through low-income housing and environmental design and education.
Kamal Meattle (India) is an environmental activist that reshapes commercial building in India using principles of green architecture and sustainable upkeep. In the 1980s, he helped the apple industry develop less-wasteful packaging to help save acres of trees, and began a campaign to help India's millions of scooter drivers use less oil.
Jennifer Indovina (USA) is a clean tech entrepreneur and co-founder of Tenrehte Technologies, Inc., who invented PICOwatt Smart Plug, an energy saving outlet adapter that gives you remote control over the power your devices consume.
Adital Ela (Israel) is a designer and teacher that incorporating indigenous knowledge into sustainable design, and also the CEO of "S-Sense Design" an active sustainable design studio.
Jason Pomeroy (Singapore) is an architect, master planner and academic at the forefront of the sustainable built environment agenda and founder of Pomeroy Studio who also lectures and publishes widely on skygardens in tall buildings and urban habitats.
