Indonesia has just launched its Earth Hour 2013 official video, inviting participants to get involved in 'Ini Aksiku! Mana Aksimu?' - the localised version of Earth Hour's global I WILL IF YOU WILL campaign.
This video features Earth Hour volunteers from Jakarta and other cities in the country, and invites participants to adopt a more environmentally friendly lifestyle via a challenge to go beyond the hour.
The video is a reminder that Earth Hour is not merely a momentum celebrated once a year, but has become a continuous action towards behavioral change around the world. By cutting down on plastic use, using more public transport, eating organically and conserving water, youth in Indonesia are becoming the inspiration to their family, friends and wider social networks to take a positive ongoing commitment to help the planet.
Indonesia has revolutionised the way it organises Earth Hour, spreading the movement to 22 cities, 255 communities, 77 schools, 44 universities in 2012, engaging an estimated 1 million people.
Globally, Earth Hour Indonesia is recognised as one of the leading countries in utlising online social media not only in spreading the Earth Hour message, but also as an organising tool powerered independently by community groups across the nation.
