As Earth Hour 2013 draws near, celebrities across the globe are stepping up and showing their support for the world's largest campaign for the environment. Some celebrities are even carrying out I Will If You Will challenges, inspiring their fans help to help save the planet by going beyond hour.
British pop band McFly has teamed up with Earth Hour UK, and they are asking fans to #doitinthedark . For their IWIYW challenge, they will be “doing something rather special” in their Panda onesies if 10,000 fans commit to taking better care of the planet by liking the Earth Hour UK Facebook page and sharing their IWIYW video with their friends.
Former MTV Asia VJ, Utt Panichkul, has promised to drop an item of clothing for every 1,000 people who pledge to turn up their air-conditioners by one degree for his IWIYW dare. His IWIYW striptease is part of WWF Singapore's efforts to encourage Singaporeans to save energy and reduce carbon emissions by setting their air conditioners at slightly higher temperature.
And in Spain, Grammy winning singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz has also shown his support for via Twitter, reminding his fans to turn their lights off for an hour on March 23, 8:30 PM for Earth Hour. Past celebrities who have supported Earth Hour include Cate Blanchett, Tom Brady and Gisele Bunchen.
In 2012, supermodel Miranda Kerr completed her IWIYW challenge after 500 of her fans pledged to submit their own IWIFYW challenge, and hosted a yoga class for her fans in Australia.
